The SNC Voice blog

In his monograph on "Secession and the Modern State," Professor Donald W. Livingston wrote,

History shows that the logic of the modern state is such that every attempt to limit its growth by reforming the center leads to an increase in its power.… Reagan and Margaret Thatcher sought to reduce the size of the central government; but when they left, its powers were much greater than before.

This blog is not about any reformation of the central government, rather it is about replacing it from the ground up.  It has lost its moral legitimacy by becoming an oppressive empire. Its time in the sun is gone. Smaller republics need to take its place. We are here to speak for the southern eastern States of the North American continent. This is the SNC Voice.

Just to set the record straight, Thanksgiving is a Southern holiday.

This Thursday, we celebrate Thanksgiving as an American holiday because most of the teaching concerning the celebration has come from a Yankee perspective. Thus we are told the following. The Separatists (later to be called Pilgrims) first set foot on land on 13 November 1620 at what would eventually be called Provincetown. They returned to the Mayflower and again set foot on land at the location to become known as Plymouth on 21 December. After facing scarce provisions and starvation, the fifty-three survivors celebrated what is now known as "the first Thanksgiving."

The Truth is that Thanksgiving, both as a Christian worship service and as a banquet celebration was first observed in the Virginia colony.

When the Royalists first landed in what would become Jamestown on 13 May 1607, the first thing they did was hold a Christian service to thank God for their delivery. They took the sails from the ships and stretched an awning across some trees to shield them from the glaring sunlight. A bar from the ship was nailed between two trees and became the place for sermons and communion. The Rev. Robert Hunt of the Church of England, read the services. He continued doing so at the same place, every morning and evening, preaching twice on Sunday, and celebrating Holy Communion every three months. He held the services under the trees until a church building could be constructed for worship.

Thus it is was thirteen years prior to the Pilgrims landing that a "thanksgiving service" was held in the first Southern colony on this continent.

A little over twelve years later, a group of thirty-eight settlers established what would become known as Berkeley Plantation about twenty miles up-river from Jamestown. The group's charter required that the day of they arrived be observed as a "day of thanksgiving" to God "Wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrival at the place assigned for plantacon in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetually keept holy as a day of thanksgiving to Almighty God." A service was held that day and a celebration is held annually.

Not only this Thursday, but always give thanks unto the Lord Almighty for His provision and especially for being blessed to live in the South.

Our governments federal, state and local are failing the people they are meant to protect.

The governments on this continent were established under a Christian basis of law the Mosaic covenant / the Ten Commandments. But over the past two centuries, we have devolved from a theocentric (God centered) system of law to an anthropocentric (man centered) system of law. Man has become his own god the chief determiner of what is good or bad.

Monuments which honor those Ten Commandments have been covered, removed and destroyed across the Empire. Such is our shame. And in their place we have erected laws whose foundations have been men's opinions.

The obvious down-side to this was written millennia ago in Cato's Letters "The world is governed by men, and men by their passions; which, being boundless and insatiable, are always terrible when they are not controlled."

The only control to men's opinions and passions have been the absolutes of Biblical Law.

"All law is the product of will and command. The fundamental question is: Whose Will? Whose command?" Archie P. Jones (no relation to the SNC Chairman)

This past summer, the SCOTUS decision on same-sex marriage confirmed that we have degenerated from worshipping and obeying the Creator to worshipping and obeying the creation. Evil has been commanded as legal and good has been ignored and vilified.

We are also in a battle in many communities over Sharia law. Sharia is again just another man-made set of commands promoted by a sin-loving "prophet."

If we are to continue as a society which respects life and protects women and children, we must profess and adamantly adhere to the basics of Biblical law. The alternative is the death of our culture.

Continuing to build our system of law upon ourselves means that we are declaring ourselves equal to God. The last community which did that built a tower and were scattered.

This issue will be discussed and a pronouncement made at the upcoming session of the Southern National Congress. The legitimacy of the Empire is at stake. Unless there is change, it has already signed its death warrant by rejecting the Creator.

We are on a collision course between liberty and oppressive government.

Constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead has written, "The state is seeking to make itself the center of all human loyalties, the goal of all human aspirations, the source of all human values, and the final arbiter of all human destiny. In so doing, without using the language of religion, it is claiming to be divine." (Christianity & Civilization #2,

The rulers within the Empire (formerly called the United States of America) have worked to establish the state as god. They have set themselves to the business of denying the existence of the Eternal Creator by removing public displays of the Nativity of the King of Kings, by outlawing public prayer to the Lord of All, and now by proclaiming marriage to be everything contrary to that established in Scripture.

The Empire will continue to proclaim the motto of "In God we Trust," because it considers itself the god being trusted. "As the state [the Empire] becomes increasingly pagan [proclaiming itself as god], it will continue to exert and to expand its claims to total jurisdiction and power over all areas, including the church." (Whitehead)

Most Americans continue to love "America the Beautiful" and enjoy reciting the "Pledge of Allegiance" because they only see what was not what is. The screws of tyranny have been tightened ever so slowly in order to make any reaction seem radical rather than reasonable.

The Empire has lost its legitimacy because it has lost its ties to absolutes. Legislation, court opinions, and executive decisions are made in light of "what's right now" rather than what is eternally right.

We are on a collision course between Liberty and the Empire.

The delegates to the Southern National Congress understand that the Southern people (all of them) deserve representation on the basis of Truth and Justice. Only with those qualities will regain true Liberty.

Many native Southerners have unfortunately accepted Yankee lies as truth. They hang their heads and allow the abusive accusations of anything Southern as being akin to evil.

The South should not be the object of ridicule. The South has preserved its Christ centered culture despite the most horrendous attacks and adversities. The South has produced great statesmen, great military leaders, and great theologians. The South has given us the best reading and the best listening anyone could want and there is something for everyone.

The South has had its problems with race and racism, but so far has resolved those problems better than anywhere else on the continent. Time and again you will see the phrase "Southern By The Grace of God." Grace is defined as God's unmerited favour and He has certainly favoured us by allowing us to live and breath in the South.

Dr. Clyde Wilson, retired Professor of History at the University of South Carolina tells us that the Republicans have ceased their reconstruction of the South and have instead turned to colonization. He asserts that there are no Southerners in Congress nor in Governor's chairs, there are only Democrats and Republicans. He notes that the Republican party was created to support big business and to reward business with the bounty of the public treasury-it has never truly represented free enterprise, but rather it has supported big business. After all, the industrial capitalism of the Republican party and the socialism of the Democratic party both require the centralization of power and money.

Biblically we get the government we deserve, either for blessing or cursing. We are told by many that we live in the freest country on Earth, yet the 2014 Index of Economic Freedom published by the Heritage Foundation ranks the United States at 12th place-and only as "Mostly Free." That is two places down from the 2012 ranking.

I am sure that each of us desires to live under God's blessing. But covenantally, that depends on how we understand and implement biblical principles. Vindiciae Contra Tyrranos (1579) posits that in legitimate government God establishes a dual covenant-between Himself and the King (or President) and between Himself and the people.  The King is responsible for his own obedience in the covenant.

So also are we responsible for our obedience in covenant to God.

Recently during the public uproar over the Confederate Battle Flag, your Chairman was criticized for not making any public. There is a sound and specific reason for no comment from SNC's Chairman…defending the Battle Flag does not fall within the parameters of business for the Southern National Congress.

I recommend reviewing the articles under "A Southern Voice" and "Manifesto" on our website ( . These were written by others under the direction of our founding Chairman Tom Moore.

Here are some excerpts:

"We start with the proposition that the South and its inhabitants are a separate, distinct, and worthy people rooted in soil, kinship, shared history and customs."

"The Southern National Congress is a deliberative body designed to provide Southerners with a forum to voice their authentic concerns regarding the South's continued cultural life, prosperity, and distinctive existence. This is being accomplished within a framework conducive to the complete independence for our southern States."

"The Southern National Congress provides a means of expressing Southern goals, grievances, and solutions, in an open manner not presently existing anywhere else in the public sphere." These goals, grievances, and solutions are directed first to our respective State legislators and legislatures, then to our fellow Southerners who have fallen under the misinformation spell of the Empire.

When George Washington was asked for advice from a young colonel, he wrote, "The best general advice I can give [is to] impress upon the mind of every man, from the first to the lowest, the importance of the cause and what it is they are contending for."

We are contending for a New Southern Nation (or confederacy). We are about liberty, justice and a legitimate practice of Jeffersonian republicanism.

"While in session, the Congress debates in order to resolve practical matters respecting life and liberty in the South. …And while it may lack formal legal authority at this time, it can achieve something better - moral authority."

From Isaiah 58:12 (NKJV) - Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Yes, we must never forget the past, nor its symbols, nor the men and women who have provided the foundation upon which we must build. Our cause and our vision must be to the future which we are building for our children, grand-children and generations beyond. Then we will be the ones who repaired the breach; we will be the restorers of streets to dwell in.

Proclamation of 3rd April, 2015
As a Day of Repentance and Prayer
For the Southern Nation

Southerners! We have sinned against Almighty God.

The Southern National Congress calls upon the people of the South-a people who believe that the Lord reigns, and that His overruling Providence orders all things-to unite in prayer and humble submission under His chastening hand, and to beseech His favor on our suffering Southland.

It is good that when trials and reverses of liberty befall us we should seek to take home to our hearts and consciences the lessons which they teach, and profit by the self-examination for which they prepare us. Personal successes have made us self-confident and forgetful of our reliance on Him; the love of money has eaten like a gangrene into the very heart of the land, converting too many among us into worshippers of gain and rendering them unmindful of their duty to their country, to their fellow-men, and to their God. Who then will presume to complain when we are chastened, or despair of our just cause of liberty, and the protection of our Heavenly father?

Let us rather receive in humble thankfulness the lessons which He teaches us, devoutly acknowledging that to Him, and not to our own feeble arms, are due the honor and the glory of victory; that from Him, in His paternal providence, come the anguish and sufferings of defeats and failures, and that, whether in victory or defeat, our humble supplications are due at His footstool.

Now, therefore, I, David O Jones, as Chairman of the Southern National Congress, do issue this proclamation setting apart Good Friday, the 3rd day of April 2015, as a day of fasting, humiliation, and prayer; and I do hereby invite the people of the Southern States to repair on that day to their respective places of public worship. And to unite in supplication for the favor and protection of that God who has hitherto conducted us safely through all the dangers that attended us.

We also call upon the Governors, Legislatures, and Congregations of the southern States to join in proclaiming and observing the appointed day of repentance and prayer for the southern Nation.

When the SNC was founded in 2008, most political pundits were silent on the subject of secession. That has certainly changed. The Scottish secession vote last week certainly garnered the attention of various media outlets. "Google" secession and you will get 10.3 million sites and articles to view. (I didn't even begin to try.)

Several articles from last week referenced a Reuters sponsored poll. It stated:

Some 23.9 percent of Americans polled from Aug. 23 through Sept. 16 said they strongly supported or tended to support the idea of their state breaking away, while 53.3 percent of the 8,952 respondents strongly opposed or tended to oppose the notion.

The southeastern States which make up the bulk of the Southern National Congress polled a 25% support for secession. It should be a note of interest that when Reuters made follow-up phone calls to respondents, they found that both ends of the political spectrum favouring the idea.

"Texas has everything we need. We have the manufacturing, we have the oil, and we don't need them," said Mark Denny, a 59-year-old retiree living outside Dallas on disability payments. "I have totally, completely lost faith in the federal government, the people running it, whether Republican, Democrat, independent, whatever," he said.

"I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference anymore which political party is running things. Nothing gets done," said Roy Gustafson, 61, of Camden, South Carolina, who lives on disability payments. "The state would be better off handling things on its own."

The Reuters article quoted Mordecai Lee, a professor of governmental affairs at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee "It seems to have heated up, especially since the election of President Obama." It would seem that the intelligencia still don't "get it." They, along with their civil servant cousins, still insist that secession has something to do with an anti-African attitude among white people.  How does that comport with Scotland voting to secede from the United Kingdom?

Secession it is about self determination. It is about having control of your own political and economic future. There are approximately one hundred different secession movements in Europe and nearly fifty in Asia. Are we to believe that all those movements are also based on an anti-African motive?

The Southern National Congress states on its website, "While in session, the Congress debates in order to resolve practical matters respecting life and liberty in the South." We are all about State sovereignty with the ultimate goal of secession from the Empire being operated out of Washington, DC.

Like the 45% of Scots who want to be free from England, we are working for the self determination of each Southern State and locality.

Prior to the sixth session of the Southern National Congress, a Marxist group calling itself the "Tennessee Anti-Racist Network" reported to the media how horrible it was that a couple of Tennessee legislators would speak to the SNC which according the "Network" was a racist organization. As we approach our seventh session, we expect a repeated attack.

As Chairman of the SNC, let me make this abundantly clear the Southern National Congress intends to continue to represent the voice of the Southern people.

In the Preamble to our Constitution we state our purpose is to

  • Provide a forum for the authentic voice of the Southern People to be heard in the councils of Federal, State, and local governments;
  • Promote the traditional Southern principles of individual liberty and personal responsibility, reestablish those principles within a framework of lawful government with strictly limited and enumerated powers;
  • Advance the prosperity, welfare, and general interests of the Southern States and People.

The Southern National Congress is composed of a great number of practicing Christians. As such we recognize the Holy Bible as the Word of God, true and infallible. In the Revelation chapter five, we are given a description of the eternal worship of the Lord in heaven. The congregation there is described in verse nine, "And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation."

The Greek word translated "nation" is ethnos; the same root of which we have the term ethnic in English. If we as believers expect to spend eternity with people of every ethnicity, why would we spend even a moment of time on earth attempting to create discord?

We don't and won't. It is only those whose purpose is to cause discord among the Southern people (of any ethnicity) who will raise any banner of racism and self-hatred.

The following is the text of the "Challenge to the Delegates of SNC-6" by its Chairman, David O Jones.

I have a dream.

For two hundred years – basically since the close of the Constitutional convention in Philadelphia – the South has preserved its Christ centered culture despite the most horrendous attacks and adversities.

The South has produced great statesmen, great military leaders, and great theologians. The South has given us the best cuisine, the best reading and the best listening anyone could want – and there is something for every taste.

The South has had its problems, but when left to its own wisdom, has resolved those problems better than anywhere else on the continent.

Time and again we see the phrase “Southern by the grace of God.” Grace is defined as God’s unmerited favour and He has certainly favoured us by allowing us to live and breath in the South.

Dr. Clyde Wilson, has told us repeatedly that the Republicans have ceased their reconstruction of the South and have instead turned to colonization; that there are no Southerners in Congress nor in Governor’s chairs, there are only Democrats and Republicans. He notes that the industrial capitalism of the Republican party and the socialism of the Democratic party both require the centralization of power and money.

Again, I have a dream which most every one of you shares.

Samuel Pierpont Langley. A name you have probably never heard. He lived in the early 20th century. He was a Senior officer of the Smithsonian; a Professor of mathematics at Harvard; and was friends with such as Andrew Carnegie and Alexander Graham Bell.

Langley was commissioned by the United States government for a special project and provided a $50,000 grant. He assembled a team of the best and brightest scientists of his day. They had one goal and he had all the advantages.

He was competing against others who did not have any government funding; they were not scientists. In fact, his competitors were just a couple of brothers, bicycle mechanics, whose Methodist Bishop father continued to deride their dream and tell them it was impossible; that God never intended man to fly.

Now you already know who the competitors were, their name is etched in everyone’s memory. Why do we remember the Wright brothers and have never heard of Samuel Pierpont Langley?

Langley had a goal – to be the first to discover the secret of flight. The Wright brothers had a dream of man soaring in the heavens. When the Wright brothers achieved their dream, Langley quit. He even returned the unused funds of his grant back to the government.

I have a dream of the men and women of the South living in ordered Christian liberty.

We can look around us and see the numbers here and become discouraged. Most of us were attended the first several Congresses and remember the excitement and that the attendance was three times what it is today. But remember this – movements may be born in excitement, but they are successful by the total dedication of the few.

The first rule of volunteer organization is said to be – Nobody will do anything…ever!

The operational rule of volunteer organizations is – 10% of the people will accomplish 90% of the results. We have slightly over XXX people registered as delegates to the SNC. We have here today, slightly over XX delegates. We are exactly where we should be. The attendance of 300 would be a disaster…no work could be accomplished. If you doubt me, just look at the 535 members of the Empire’s Congress…nothing good ever gets accomplished.

I have a goal of the Southern National Congress expanding into State congresses. But the dream remains the same – the men and women of the South living in ordered Christian liberty.

There may be a few “techies” here who know of the company Creative Technologies.

Several years ago, they were on the breaking edge of technology. Creative Technologies developed a 5G MP3. They told the world about it…nobody bought one. Twenty-four months later Apple introduced the iPOD. People went crazy. The iPOD was simply a 5G MP3, but Apple marketed it as, “A thousand songs in your pocket.” The difference? Creative Technologies thought that people would respond to the technical details; Apple knew that people respond to a dream.

Sit back and think … what images does ordered Christian liberty form in your mind?  That should be the message we carry to every Southerner. If we continue in talking about strict constitutionalism, secession, and states’ rights, we will never be able to sell our product. We won’t even be able to give it away. We must learn to dream… and to talk about the dream.

I do not know what percentage of the computer market Apple has, but I would guess that it is only in single digits. Yet that computer company is known by everyone and is recognized as an innovator and inspires tremendous loyalty among its customers.  Because they still couch every new product in the image of a dream.

The Southern National Congress has not yet come into its own. Quite providentially, this session has received a good bit of press.  Previously we couldn’t have actively sought press which didn’t happen. If the media were here today, they would look around this room and laugh – laugh at our numbers, laugh at this motley assortment of faces. They would go back to their newsrooms and write of the impossible task which we espouse.

I say, “Let the dogs bark, the caravan is moving on!”
Because we have a dream … ordered Christian liberty.

Are you ready to participate in an historic Congress?  The Sixth session of the Southern National Congress will convene Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, 1-3 November 2013 at Fall Creek Falls State Park about an hour south of Cookville, Tennessee.

Delegates will give attention to several possible pieces of legislation which will address the Sovereignty of the Several Southern States.

One of our guests at the upcoming Southern National Congress will be Representative Judd Matheny of Tennessee.

During the last session of the Tennessee legislature, Representative Judd Matheny sponsored the “Tennessee Balance of Powers Act.”  The bill faced opposition, so Rep. Matheny as Chairman of the House Government Operations Committee joined with his counterpart in the Senate and formed a joint Balance of Powers Committee.

The committee has already met and the members are attempting to discover the undocumented costs to the State of Tennessee resulting from the U.S. Department of State’s settlement of foreign nationals in enclaves within the State.  The committee was told by a federal bureaucrat that the State had no authority to stop the settlements.

Rep. Matheny will – among other topics – provide information on what he believes the Southern National Congress can do to help their States reassert their Sovereignty.

Have you registered as a Delegate or an Observer?  Are you ready?

In the Southern National Covenant, we pledge:

  • To resist any Federal statute or Presidential directive that threatens our fundamental freedoms of speech, press, assembly, exercise of religion, and petition for redress, freedom from illegal search and seizure, and the right of due process under law.
  • Never to allow ourselves willingly to be disarmed nor submit to the confiscation of our means of lawful self defence; nor comply with any firearms registration scheme, which is the certain precursor to confiscation.

Here is a great opportunity to put legs to what our mouths have been saying.

Last Monday I met with Missouri Senator Brian Nieves. His Senate Committee did a major rewrite of a bill which subsequently passed both the Missouri Senate and House before being vetoed by the Governor.

The “Second Amendment Preservation Act” is the first piece of real nullification legislation to come out of the South. It reads: Whenever the federal government assumes powers that the people did not grant it in the Constitution, its acts are unauthoritative, void, and of no force.

It continues with a phrase that most students of history should know by heart: The several states of the United States of America are not united on the principle of unlimited submission to their federal government. (If you know, respond in the comments below.)

All of that is a nice introduction, but the hackles come up with All federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations, whether past, present, or futue, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms … shall be invalid in this state, shall not be recognized by this state, shall be specifically rejected by this state, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this state.  It then continues with a brief list of federal Gun Control Acts.

Missouri’s act includes penalties. If anyone attempts to enforce any of the infringements on the right to keep and bear arms included in subsection 3 of this section is guilty of a class A misdemeanor. And Any Missouri citizen…shall have a private cause of action for declaratory judgment and for damages against any person or entity attempting such enforcement.

As I mentioned before, Missouri’s Governor vetoed this legislation. BUT the legislature convenes in special session on 11 September to override the veto. If you know one of the legislators in Missouri, call them and ask them to vote to override the veto on HB 436. If you know anyone living in Missouri, call them and ask that they and their neighbors call their own representative and senator and ask them to override the veto on HB 436.

This is living our covenant!

Have you signed the Covenant? You can read it and sign it by going to Southern National Covenant on the navigation bar at the right of this page.

For a complete copy of Missouri's Second Amendment Preservation Act go here.

Despotism continues to increase. The united states attorney general has announced that he will determine if the laws of the several States are legal—particularly those that provide for self-defense. Unfortunately there will be those in our State capitals who will cower and yield to whatever pronouncement comes out of the Empire’s HQ.

It is time for the citizens of the States represented by the Southern National Congress to make their loyalties known by covenanting together and signing the Southern National Covenant.

This document is modeled after that Covenant signed by the heads of the clans of Scotland in 1638. (Picture is of the signing.) The problem then was that the Stuart kings of England believed in the Divine Right of Kings—head of not only the civil government, but also head of the Church. The Scots did not accept such a claim—only Jesus Christ could be spiritual head of a Christian church. The Covenant was signed by dipping the quill into their own blood.

Today we have the same problem. The Emperor and his minions in Washington, DC believe themselves to be the voice of god and demand unwavering obeisance. Good Southerners (Christian and otherwise) cannot accept this such arrogance.

From the Southern National Covenant:

By this Covenant we corporately pledge ourselves to the protection of our Southern cultural heritage and to the defence of liberty and justice for the Southern People and States.  We bind and oblige ourselves, as we are by God and nature tied, with our lives, fortunes, and sacred honour to stand in defence of our native soil and People, contrary to this perverse and infamous regime now arrayed against the South.  We swear that we will be ever ready to use all our best endeavours for her preservation, and that we will not cravenly and shamefully bow the knee to tyrants.  By this bond, each of us faithfully promises to assist one another as the need demands.  All of which before God we most solemnly vow and promise to adhere to and never to turn from, all the days of our lives.

The Southern National Covenant was overwhelming approved by the delegates to the second session of the Congress in 2009. At the end of the Congress, the delegates each with their own State delegation affixed their signatures to the document (many using their own blood).

You now have a chance to join with your leadership and also sign the Covenant. By going to the Southern National Covenant page on our website, you can electronically sign the document. If you would like a copy suitable for framing, let us know, we will send one to you.

Building communities is perhaps the most important aspect of developing a self-governing and self-sustaining Southland. Commuities are the key to restoring a true republic.

Building communities is also the hardest thing to do.  It is much easier to build a political following. With the right press agent, pollster and (of course) money anyone can be elected to office.  The proof of that is the current resident of the White House.

Clyde N. Wilson in From Union to Empire writes,

The key to republicanism is the precedence of the community over the government. …Communities have forebears and descendants. Their political acts are governed in the consciousness of these as well as of present necessities. Empires, on the other hand, are governed by the momentary necessities or even the whims of rulers. In an empire…the rulers…were corrupt and dangerous in two senses: They were usurpers of authority over (against) the rights of the people, that is, the community; and, they were incompetent in carrying out the high and necessary functions of government.

I was asked last evening how many local office holders understand the importance of community and self-government.  I replied that there are very few.  Most local office holders are there for their ego and the money…community has nothing to do with it.

Most local office holders are constantly searching for a handout from State and federal funds.  They have fallen to the mistaken notion that “If I don’t raise the tax for it, the people don’t actually pay for it.”  Somehow money which comes from the State just fell out of a tree.  Of course, the funds which come from Washington are just printed, not raised.

People of the South used to greet a new acquaintance with, “Where are your people from?”  It was all about the continuity of the community.  Today, too many are like Yankees, “What do you do?” Or in other words, “How much do you make?”

Our Southland will benefit and experience a resurgence of liberty when we become more concerned about the quality of our communities than the affluence and power of the Empire.

There are many popular sayings which are lies. One such lie is: practice makes perfect.

Oft quoted by corporate trainers and sales managers, but not true. Doctors and attorneys are distinguished by their professions being called a “practice.” But most physicians and lawyers that I am acquainted with will readily admit that their years of practice have not made them perfect.

George Washington died from the practice of “bleeding” a patient—getting rid of the bad blood in order to heal a person. Patrick Henry died just minutes after ingesting a dose of liquid mercury given him by his physician in the mistaken belief that it could heal him. No amount of practice of those two methods of treatment could have given better (let alone perfect) results.

The problem with practice is that we are prone to practice the wrong thing. I’m a terrible golfer. In fact, I gave it up altogether. No matter how many times I would swing the club, it ball would go either left or right off the fairway. My problem is that I never stopped to have someone instruct me as to how to swing correctly. (I did have one golf pro tell me that I played so badly, I should quit…didn’t even offer to provide me with lessons!)

We have a great majority of legislators and governing officials who are involved in nothing more than practice. Most have never even read the Constitutions which they have taken an oath to uphold. Tennessee’s current Speaker of the House was challenged on that fact and admitted that few legislators had read the U.S. Constitution and she believed hardly any had read that of Tennessee.

A house cannot be built to endure unless it rests upon a firm foundation. In government, the firm foundation is an understanding of the enduring principles of ordered Christian liberty. The Southern National Congress strives to embrace and practice those principles.

The SNC may never be perfect, but at least it will be practicing with a firm foundation.

The Empire’s Senate declared war on the South on Thursday, 27 May 2013.

By voting to provide legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, the Empire has endorsed a virtual restructuring of the social organization of the Southern people.

Using their own figures (which are ridiculously under-calculated) and removing the State of California (which long ago acquiesced to a Mexican invasion) forty-five percent of all illegals live in the fourteen States that are members of the Southern National Congress.

Texas (as we might expect) and Florida (as we might understand) lead the way in numbers of illegals, but Georgia and North Carolina are not far behind.

The United States owes its very existence to the Southern States. Kings Mountain, Cowpens, and Guilford Courthouse are battles which turned the tide for the patriot cause in the 1770s. And we cannot forget that Cornwallis finally admitted defeat in Virginia. It was the strong and energetic faith and valour of the Cavaliers, Scot-Irish, and even the Huguenots which made the South what it was and struggles to remain today.

The South maintains a spirit of self-reliance and independence. It is that spirit which the Empire wishes to dilute and extinguish. If the South can be destroyed, the other nuisance States can be easily taken care of.

Holy Script gives a warning against those who would pervert justice. Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! – Isaiah 5:20.  In recent years, nearly every executive action, court decision, and congressional mandate emanating from the Empire has perverted justice with an increasing frequency and intensity.

Too many Southerners still cling to a memory of what was and think everything will be all right. They are wrong! Mayberry is gone…buried in the ash heap of a thousand ungodly actions out of “the District.”

We must realign our sights to another vision, one of a South which will rebuild from local communities and independence States. We must encourage our State legislators to exercise their God-ordained authority to interpose for their constituents. They must be encouraged to act on nullification and eventually secession from the Empire before we are drawn into the vortex of its demise.

There are Tories among us – those who continue allegiance to the Empire in spite of the facts.

During the American War for Independence, those who remained loyal to the Crown (status quo) rather than be loyal to the principles of liberty were branded Tories. They still exist.

Thirty years ago, I witnessed many Southern Democrats join the Republican party. There reasons were consistent – I didn’t leave the Democratic party, it left me. We have to realize that the same state of affairs exists in our loyalty to “America.” Those of us who profess a desire to secede have not left the principles of liberty, those in government are the ones who left.

The principles of liberty are rooted in the Christian faith. When the colonies united to form the “United States,” the prevailing faith was Christianity, thus the various arguments for liberty were steeped in Christian language.

The principles of liberty cannot be separated from Christianity and still make sense. The arguments of the Austrian school of economics and the libertarians do not make sense if the underpinnings of Christian thought are taken away. Yet many insist that they can.

In similar fashion, the politicians in the Empire’s HQ (Washington, DC) insist that they can manipulate world peace by leaving the foundations of a Christian culture.

During Ronald Reagan’s eight years in power, the CIA secretly sent billions of dollars of military aid to the mujahedeen in Afghanistan in a US-supported jihad against the Soviet Union. America had a significant role in the rise of Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda.

George H.W. Bush so meddled in Muslim affairs that they returned the favour by detonating a car bomb in the parking garage below Tower One of the World Trade Center just a month after he left office.

During Bill Clinton’s years in power, he supported the Muslim Serbs against the Eastern Orthodox Bosnians. He eventually encouraged the NATO nations to join in “Operation Deliberate Force” which bombed Christian villages and supply lines. His actions also increased the al Qaeda network.

In 2001, George W. Bush began the practice of annually inviting Muslim luminaries to break their Ramadan fast with a White House banquet. No other religious group — not Jews, Catholics, Protestants or even Druids — rates an official celebration like the Iftaar supper.

The current Emperor only continues the trend which began thirty years ago. With a “new and improved” immigration policy; with police agencies restricted from legitimate law enforcement upon Muslims and others; ordered Christian liberty is a thing of the past in the Empire.

Secessionists are not so much leaving “America” as the Empire has left us. The Southern National Congress is raising a chorus of liberty against the Empire to provide a future and a hope for our children, grand-children, and beyond. Hopefully the Tories will wake up and join us.

Preventing those who desire to benefit from the coffers of governments from doing so has been a challenge since the beginning of governments.

Both Alexander Hamilton and James Madison thought that resisting the profiteers once would be easier than resisting them a number of times, thus they promoted the u.s. constitution and a more powerful central government as a means to that end.

Not sure where they got their logic or if they were just disingenuous (liars). Experience has shown that it is much easier to spend a little more to buy off one legislature than to spend multiple amounts to buy off multiple legislatures.

And here we have the amassing of our current problems. If all legislation on illegal immigration is restricted to the Empire’s legislature, it can be bought so much easier. When individual State legislatures begin to launch their own restrictions, they are shot down by the SCOTUS. Those fine robed creatures dictate that all authority over immigration is reserved to the Empire’s congress. You will not find that authority in the constitution!

Who benefits? The lobbyists who created the mountain out of a molehill in the first place.

An independent legislature, closer to the electorate, which operates to defend its own constituency is more prone to honesty and legitimate action. The outsiders who come to affect the outcome of debate are identified as being both outsiders and as strictly in it for the money.

Yesterday, the Empire’s supreme court ruled that a State does not have authority over its own ballot boxes. Arizona (Georgia, Alabama, and Kansas) should have seen that one coming. Since Reconstruction, Southern States have been at the mercy of a central government run amuck. Southern States are at the mercy of federal judges every time the boundary of a voting district is changed. The judges rule as though they were gods.

Who benefits? The lobbyists who created the problem in the first place.

Unfortunately, the people Southerners sent to the Empire’s HQ will obediently renew all legislation that restricts us. They certainly would not want to be said to be against equality, or –heaven forbid—racists.

The Columbia Empire needs to be broken up. Divvy up the debts and the obligations and let us all solve our own problems. Do away with the $200,000 per year czars and the 100% pensions. Let us rule ourselves once again. Return legitimate sovereignty to the States and allow them to be independent.

The cost to the individual citizen will be no greater – and probably much less than is currently the case. The ones who will be most affected will be those who have built great edifices to themselves and their causes in Washington.

Who benefits then? The people.

When confronted with a choice between an eternal value and a temporary opportunity, choose the eternal. It alone will provide true peace and joy.

Politics and governing is an area where expedience (temporary opportunity) often trumps what is right (eternal value). Just because the capability of snooping on everyone is available does not mean it should be done. Just because the Emperor can target someone (sometimes an enemy) does not mean he should kill without due process—although he claims he can.

In governing our personal lives we recognize the difference between value and opportunity.  Often, we have had a variety of experiences to bring us to that understanding. As a young man there were times that opportunity was the major focus of my life. I had been taught that in business success happens when preparedness and opportunity meet. Time and experience have taught me to always look first for eternal value.

In looking for a temporary opportunity, we too often lose sight of our initial objective because focusing on opportunity clouds out the objective.

I believe that most Southerners would welcome a return to ordered Christian liberty. That is what our ancestors fought and died for in both wars for independence (1776 and 1861). We recognize that a life of true peace and joy is only to be found in a society of ordered Christian liberty.

The Empire has become obsessed with attempting to know everything we are doing, writing, saying and thinking. Their obsession is a result of their fear of good men. They realize that the opposition to their evil intentions lies in the good character of the people.

Although he was not speaking of any particular group of people, Albert Einstein said it best— “The real problem is in the hearts and minds of men. It is not a problem of physics but of ethics. It is easier to denature plutonium than to denature the evil spirit of man.

Good does triumph. While the road to ordered Christian liberty may be fraught with innumerable obstacles, we will get there. The nineteenth century Episcopal Bishop Phillips Brooks wrote, “A man who lives right and is right has more power in his silence than another has by his words.By choosing eternal values, we will get there.

We are more and more conscious of moral decline in the Columbian (D.C.) Empire. Over the past several days and months we have been subjected to the worst of revelations of misdeeds by the current Emperor’s administration.

As a reminder of the most onerous:

  • The Attorney General supervised a plan to illegally sell guns to Mexican drug cartels which were then used to kill our own men in the Border Patrol. There has been no apology, no resignation, no indictment.
  • The President and Secretary of State sat idly by for hours as our Ambassador and others in Benghazi fought for their lives and were subsequently killed. There has been no apology, no resignation, only excuses and finger-pointing.
  • The Internal Revenue Service methodically impeded conservative and Christian organizations from receiving legitimate tax-exempt status. One individual has been reassigned, but again no apology, not the beginning of an indictment.
  • The National Security Agency (NCSA) has been exposed in the massive collection of information on every citizen. This has startled many. But again, the focus is on the whistle-blower, not the crime.

Fifteen years ago, in The Sovereign Individual, James Dale Davidson and Lord William Rees-Mogg wrote,
Corruption, moral decline, and inefficiency appear to be signal features of the final stages of a system.

We are at an end of the Empire called the United States of America. No reform is possible because there are few who would restrict the reign of terror.  As Cato wrote, The world is governed by men, and men by their passions; which, being boundless and insatiable, are always terrible when they are not controlled. The Bible calls the condition a "slavery to sin."

In every instance mentioned above, even the laying of blame for the Benghazi attack on the producer of an anti-Islamic video, the underlying purpose of each of the Empire’s activities has been to silence the opposition. Democratic President Harry S. Truman once said,

Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear. (August 8, 1950)

The Vice-President of the Confederacy, Alexander Stephens wrote,

If centralism is ultimately to prevail; if our entire system of free Institutions as established by our common ancestors is to be subverted, and an Empire is to be established in their stead; if that is to be the last scene of the great tragic drama now being enacted: then, be assured, that we of the South will be acquitted, not only in our own consciences, but in the judgment of mankind, of all responsibility for so terrible a catastrophe, and from all guilt of so great a crime against humanity.

The Southern National Congress exists to continue the resistance to tyranny, following the examples of Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and so many others.

Private property is almost completely forgotten as a cornerstone of a free society.

As our Founding Fathers drafted the Declaration of Independence, they used the phrase “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” The pursuit of happiness was actually a synonym for private property.

We can appreciate more clearly how important private property is when we read the first plank of the Communist Manifesto – abolition of private property and the application of all rents of land to public purposes. The first step toward destruction of a free society is the elimination of private property, when yours becomes mine (or ours).

The destruction of private property has been progressive and consistent since the defeat of the South in 1865. During “reconstruction” property taxes were imposed and raised so that the original family owners (many of whose husbands and fathers had been killed in the war) could not pay the taxes. As a result many estates were confiscated for unpaid taxes and sold at a fraction of their value. The force of government was used to deprive families of their private property.

Fascism is a political construction which seems to allow private ownership, but all control is reserved to the civil government. By the means of property taxes as well as various building and use code regulations all private property is thus eliminated and within the boundaries of the united states this has been accomplished.

Please note the plight of Eustice Conway of North Carolina as recounted in the article linked here.

The Southern National Congress will stand and fight the erosion of private property rights. Such rights are as ancient as the Ten Commandments. In fact, every one of the ten has some relation to private property. I will elaborate in a future post.

The Southern people must preserve the liberty for which our ancestors sacrificed, dating all the way back to 19 June 1215 when Magna Carta was signed. We cannot forget the importance of private property.

Worth Quoting

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace.  We ask not your counsels nor your arms.  Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.  May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Samuel Adams

What is liberty without wisdom and without virtue?

Edmund Burke
